    Strong Challenge to the Feres Doctrine
       
    The military medical malpractice shield will face one of the strongest challenges
    yet in the 50 plus years of the policy if the U.S. Supreme Court decides to hear the
    case of Air Force Staff Sgt. Dean Patrick Witt. The Court will decide next month to
    hear the case.

    The case involves the death of the Staff Sgt. Witt after he suffered a serious
    malpractice incident from a nurse at Travis Air Force base in California. The Nurse
    at the facility placed a breathing tube in his esophagus instead of his airway
    following a routine appendectomy.

    Those supporting the repeal of the Feres Doctrine feel this is the best chance in a
